Fillmore artist DaVinci, previously known to most as Infamous J DaVinci, prepares his long awaited debut release, "The Day The Turf Stood Still". When describing the lyricist, the word artist suits him better than rapper, as he paints pictures vivid pictures in his music similar to the late great painter of the same last name.
You've probably heard him on collaborations with all the known Fillmore talent such as San Quinn, Big Rich, Ya Boy and others, as well as his previous mixtapes and street albums: The Street Release, Butter and Gunz 1, and 2.
With a March 9th release date, The Day the Turf Stood still promises to capture the essence of DaVinci's story. DaVinci explains how the album title came about. "Just sitting back and looking, how major cities across the world are going through a big changing period of gentrification, a lot of cultures and a lot of sub-genres, different people started moving in and coming together. That's what the album is about."
On the debut album DaVinci tells of his home turf and the changes it saw as he grew. "I'm born and raised in Fillmore, everybody knows how Fillmore changed. It was like the music mecca of the westcoast, for me coming up. As far as the OG jazz and blues. Now it's a totally different place. They moved a bunch of whole different people in, moved people out to different projects."
The Day The Turf Stood Still will serve as a soundtrack to the events in the 90s up until present times. With his deep, gruff style, and unmatched lyrics, DaVinci will tell it like no one else can. The album will consist of 17 songs produced by Big D and in-house production duo Drums n Ammo consisting of Al Jieh and Ammbush.
